Nannie Sue Knox, 87, of Niota, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008.

She was born June 17, 1921, and was a lifelong resident of McMinn County. She was a daughter of the late Robert T. and Hester Decker Matthews, and was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Isbell Knox, on Sept. 5, 2001; two sisters, Grace M. Oliver and Parrilee Cooper; and five brothers, Ben Matthews, Bruce Matthews, Lloyd Matthews, Malcolm Matthews and Earl Matthews. She was a member of East Niota Baptist Church and was retired from Crazy Ed\'s.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Velma and LeRoy Eaton of Englewood; five grandchildren and their spouses, Darryl Eaton, Harold and Wendy Eaton, Larry and Melissa Eaton, Rhonda and Eric White and Amanda and Mike McDowell; great-grandchildren and their spouses, Cayci and Wayne Hicks, Colby Eaton, Michael Eaton, Nick and LeAnn Eaton, Nathan and Kayla McDowell and Nikki and Mitch Ellis; one great-great-granddaughter, Maddalyn Hicks; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Kelley officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Niota Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
