Martha Jo "Miss Jo" McClure Derrick, 77, of Riceville, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Willow Acres Assisted Living in Riceville.

A native of Hamilton County, she had been a resident of McMinn County for 55 years. A daughter of the late Thomas Fern and Flossie Eustice McClure, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Morris Derrick, on Sept. 17, 1986. She was retired from Bowater Paper Corporation and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Michele Derrick of Athens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and John Allen of Riceville, and Pam and Willis Ledford of Etowah; five grandchildren, Angie Allen, John Allen Jr., Blake Derrick, English Derrick and Tammy Weeks; one sister, Corrine Poe of Soddy-Daisy; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were 8 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. Burial was 11 a.m. Monday in McMinn Memory Gardens.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
