Mae Elizabeth Tutterow Rowland, 96, of Athens, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Life Care Center of Athens.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, and a daughter of the late John and Dora Ferris Tutterow, she was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was retired from Kuhn\'s-Big K Department Store, and was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charles Ray Rowland, on March 5, 2006; one sister, Grace Baxter; and four brothers, Ray, Ralph, Curtis and Edgar Tutterow.

Survivors include one niece; and four nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Vest officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Travis Barnett, Robbie Davis, Dickie Slack, Rusty Davis, Richie Davis and Ronnie Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be former students of her Sunday school class.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wildwood Baptist Church Building Fund, 1045 Hwy. 39 E., Englewood, TN 37329.
