Louise Burkett Edwards, 90, of Niota, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Life Care Center of Athens.

A native of Lenoir City, and a resident of Cleveland for 45 years, she was a daughter of the late Jasper Ray and Edith Anna Parson Burkett. She owned and operated Edwards Beauty Shop in Cleveland, and was a member of Niota First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. Edwards; and one brother, Jesse Raymond Burkett.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Amanda Louise Knox Burkett of Niota; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Farner, the Rev. Bob Kelley and the Rev. Charles Ensminger officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
