Leonard Wesley "Red" Brock, 70, of Niota, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Elbert Fate and Dorothy Ailene Moses Brock, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Sue Perkins Brock, on May 8, 1996; one son, Charles Elbert Brock, on Oct. 10, 1959; and one daughter, Patricia Ann Brock, on Sept. 5, 1975. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, and was a former deacon of Marshall Hill Baptist Church. A farmer most of his life, he was a former employee of Collins Feed Mill in Niota and a former mechanic at Adams Oldsmobile, Elder Chevrolet and McMinn Motor Company. He was a avid race car driver.
Survivors include his wife, Shelby Fillers Brock of Niota; one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Lynn and Danny Reagan of Niota; four grandchildren and one spouse, Christy and John Crisp of Niota, Melissa Reagan, Travis Reagan and Alison Reagan; two great-grandchildren, Michael Crisp and Patricia Crisp; lifelong special friends, Roscoe and Patti Morgan, Jerry and Willa Crabtree and Virgil and Gloria Goodwin; two nieces; and one nephew.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Chad Hester and the Rev. J.W. Irons officiating. Burial will follow in Buttram's Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Johnny Moses, Robert Riden, Paul Morgan, DeWayne Rogers, Homer Frisbie, Mike Willis and Eddie Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Sneed, Roscoe Morgan, Kenny Cranfield, Dallas Cranfield, Charles Nunley, Freddy Hester, Louie Carter and his many friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
