Jerry Wayne Stokes, 50, of Decatur, died Friday, May 30, 2008, at his residence.

A native of McMinn County, and a resident here for most of his life, he was a son of the late James Russell and Mable Grace Harmon Stokes, and was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell Stokes, James Stokes, Archie Steve Stokes and Carlos Russell Stokes; and one sister, Janet Stokes. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two brothers and one sister-in-law, Kenny and Carolyn Stokes of Athens, and Harlos Stokes of Englewood; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jane and Charles McNabb of Athens, Becky and Jimmy Morgan of Decatur, Sharon Snyder of Etowah, and Barbara Farrell of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were 8 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Sonny Ledford and the Rev. Charles Williams officiating. Graveside services were 11 a.m. Monday in Decatur Cemetery.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
