::James Edward 'Knocker' Stanton::

Mr. James Edward "Knocker" Stanton, age 72, of Athens, passed away Wednesday, at his home.

A native of Maynardville, Tennessee and life-long resident of McMinn County,  he was a son of the late Raymond Solomon Stanton and late Leona Belle Bassinger Stanton.

He was a member of North Athens Baptist Church and a retired employee of Athens Hosiery Mill.

Survivors: Wife of 46 years, Jean McCormack Stanton of Athens, TN.  Daughters and sons-in-law,  Sheri S. and Randy Hall of Germantown, TN.  Kimberly S. and Ron Skeen  of Niota, TN.   Grandchildren: Michelle Hall, Macy Skeen, and Hailey Skeen.   Sister and brother-in-law: Norma Jean and Sonny Carroll of Athens, TN.  Brothers & sister-in-law: Raymond Lee Stanton of Calhoun, TN.  Ronnie D. & Pat Stanton of Athens, TN.  Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8:00 P.M. Thursday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Young officiating.

Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday at McMinn Memory Gardens.  Pallbearers will be Ron Skeen, Randy Hall, Greg Hayes,  Tommy Macon. 

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 P.M. at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.
