HAZEL YVONNE JORDAN SHOCKEY, age 85 of Madisonville, Tenn. died Thursday, July 2, 2009, in Athens Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Patterson, Miss, former resident of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and had been a resident of McMinn County since 1972.

She was a daughter of the late George Sidney and Pearla Mae Newsom Jordan and preceded in death by her Husband of fifty-eight years: Admiral Dewey Shockey, Sr. on June 13, 2004 and Brothers: Andrew Jackson Jordan and George Sidney Jordan, Jr..

She was a member of Franklin Rd. Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, Tenn.  Survivors: Four Sons and Daughters-in-law:Admiral Dewey "A. D." and Thelma Shockey of Murfreesboro, Tenn.  George Dean and Carolyn Shockey of Murfreesboro, Tenn.  Danny Walter and Brenda Shockey of Englewood, Tenn.  Alan Dale and Almeda Shockey of Harrison, Tenn.  Three Daughers and Sons-in-law: Debra  June and Steven Brown of Nashville, Tenn.  Dixie Pearl and Franklin Boggess of Athens, Tenn.  Donna Cecile and Vernon Baker, Jr. of Riceville, Tenn.  Two Sisters: Pearla Mae Russell of Mountain Grove, Mo.  Marilyn Dorinda Ray of Ponotoc, Miss.  Twenty-Seven Grandchildren and Sixty-Seven Great Grandchildren.  One Great Great Grandchild.  Several nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services 2:00 P. M. Sunday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Hershel Malone officiating.

Interment will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Matthew Shockey, William Dan Peyton, George Sidney Shockey,  Adam Dewey Boggess, Jason Baker,  Alan Dale Shockey, Jr., and Dennis Wayne Shockey .
