Harley J. Ingram, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Ben A. and Addie Ridley Ingram, and was preceded in death by one sister, Myrtle Buckner; and an infant brother, Fred Ingram. He was a member of McMahan Calvary Baptist Church, and a past master of Thomas A. Hamilton Masonic Lodge No. 317 in Riceville. He was a very successful businessman in furniture manufacturing.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Geraldine Dailey Ingram of Athens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marquita and Allen Swafford of Athens, and Nancy and Richard Best of Sweetwater; four grandchildren and spouses, Kellie and Donnie Wallace of Athens, Rodney Best of Sweetwater, Chris and Lindsey Best of Sweetwater, and Stacy and Rusty Byrd of Kingston; six great-grandchildren, Whitney Best and Brittany Best, both of Sweetwater, Brodie and Codie Wallace, both of Athens, and Austin and Elizabeth Byrd of Kingston; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe Ingram, Homer and Georgie Ingram and Omer and Aileen Ingram, all of Etowah, Walter and Bernice Ingram of Englewood, and Clyde and Sylvia Jean Ingram of Athens; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Bertha Mullinax and Minnie Lou Allmon, both of Etowah, and Emma Lee and Claude Derrick of Englewood; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Bates and the Rev. Chris Best officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Best, Rodney Best, Donnie Wallace, Glen Cooley, Reed Dailey and Randy Underwood.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
