GUSSIE MAE  JONES, age 98  of Ten Mile, Tenn. died Tuesday, March 11, 2008,  in Life Care of Athens, Tenn.

A native of McMinn County and resident of Meigs County since 1971, she was a daugher of the late Robert Lee "R.L." and Maude Ann Mathis Nichols and was preceded in death by her husband, John I. Jones on December 7, 1982;  two sisters, Maude Lee Nichols and Joyce Pickle; and two brothers, Oliver Nichols and Roy Nichols.

She was a charter member of Lakeside Baptist Church, former member of East Athens Baptist Church and Central Baptist and owned and operated East Athens Grocery, former employee of Carver Manufacturing Company and Aloca Aluminum Company.

Survivors include Son & daughter-in-law: J. L. & Elaine Jones of Ten Mile, TN.  Grandchildren: Dan & Jane Jones of Franklin, TN.  Jane & Bill Patrie of Woodstock, GA.  Great-grandchildren: Lauren Patrie and David Jones.

Funeral services will be 8:00 P.M. Friday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Brown officiating.

Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Cedar Grove Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Jim Goins, Mike Faircloth.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 P. M. at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.
