Gladys Walker, 89, of Riceville, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at NHC Health Care of Athens.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, and a daughter of the late Joseph Lee and Mallie Elkins Walker, she was a member of Lower Spring Creek United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by five brothers, Dennis, Sterling, Earnest, William \"Bill\" and Chester Walker; and one sister, Meldora Walker.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. William M. Walker Jr. and the Rev. Lake Walker officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lower Spring Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
