Gladys Foster Wilson, 88, of Athens, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel W. and Ora Hicks Foster. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Erastus Wilson, on Jan. 23, 2007; and two brothers, Kenneth H. Foster and Vernon J. Foster. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens and was a graduate of McKenzie Business College. She was a retired bookkeeper and office manager.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, John Edwin Wilson of Knoxville, and Larry Dale and Kathy Wilson of Houston, Texas; two grandsons, Joshua Wilson of Houston, Texas, and Jonathan Wilson and wife, Jennifer, of Kingsland, Ga.; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Wilson of Kingsland, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Foster of Lewes, Del., and Lorena Foster of Talbot; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at McMinn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
