Gail Walker Everett, 68, of Athens, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
She was a former resident of Powder Springs, Ga., and had been a resident of McMinn County since 1980. A daughter of the late Fred Vance and Eula Withrow Walker, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Shannon Everett; three sisters, Helen Walker Trotter, Diane Walker Pierce and her twin, Gaynell Walker; and one brother, Hoyle Walker. She was a member of Woodward Avenue Church of God.
Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Merideth of Dallas, Ga.; grandchildren, Spec. Jacob Brown of the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Stewart, Caleb Merideth of Dallas, Ga., and Cadet Cody Merideth of the National Guard Youth Academy of Fort Gordon, Ga.; four sisters, Maxine Holland of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., Dolores Barnett and Shirley Schultz, both of Athens, and Carol Pippenger of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Fritts officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday in McMinn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
