Franklin George Bohannon, 85, of Athens, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late John and Julia Stanton Bohannon, and was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Sherlin Bohannon; one son, Terry Bohannon; one great-grandson, Ben Vincent; four sisters, Maudie B. Watson, Liza B. Perry, Fairadell B. Elrod and Julia B. Perry Nelson; and four brothers, Dailey G. Bohannon, Allie Bohannon, Virgil Bohannon and Creed F. Bohannon Sr. He was a farmer and an employee of Mayfield Dairy for 15 years. He was a member of Idlewild Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Owen Vincent of Athens, and Linda and Glen Davis of Cleveland; four grandchildren and spouses, Tracy and Denise Vincent, Darren Davis, Blake and Rachel Vincent and Jack and Kristen Bohannon; four great-grandchildren, Kinsley Vincent, Becca Vincent, J.P. Vincent and Jin Bohannon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Thomas and the Rev. Don Wattenbarger officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday in Idlewild Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jack Bohannon, Darren Davis, Tracy Vincent, Gil Sherlin, Foster Bohannon and Milton Simpson.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
