Elsie Rosetta Sharitz, 67, of Athens, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Athens on Jan. 24, 1942, and was a beloved daughter of the late Guy William and Gladys Leona Randall Sharitz. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Stonewall Jackson and Rozena Lovern Randall; her paternal grandparents, James Winton and Etta Coffee Sharitz; and one brother-in-law, Patton McDowell \"Pat\" Duncan. She had been a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church since May 10, 1953, and was a member of the Corner Sunday School Class for children of special needs, founded by Kathy Goodman. She was one of God\'s special angels who touched and blessed those who knew her. She attended Tri-County Center since it was established and, before that time, was a member of the group meeting at Tennessee Wesleyan College. Her special friends and roommates were Margie Worley and Chandra Nichols, also of Tri-County Center. Her love for everyone at Tri-County Center went beyond words.

Survivors include one sister, Betty Sharitz Duncan of Georgetown, Texas; two nieces and spouses, Terah Rozena Duncan and Lloyd Stearns of Georgetown, Texas, and Deborah Ann Duncan and George Reginald Parker of Bryan, Texas; one great niece, Amber Elizabeth Parker; and two great-nephews, Erik Stearns and Christian Allen Parker.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Hubble and the Rev. Stella Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
