Daniel David Fitzgerald, 74, of Athens, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at his residence.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, and a resident of McMinn County for the past 15 years, he was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by one niece, Naomi Stevens. He was veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife of six years, Patsy Fitzgerald of Athens; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Daniel Fitzgerald of Columbus, Ohio, and Ryan and Roselee Fitzgerald and John and Wendy Fitzgerald, all of Brookfield, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Richard Wical of Waynesville, Ohio, and Lisa and David Orrison of Greenville, Ohio; two stepdaughters and one spouse, Shelley Roberts and Terri and Tim Guffey, all of Athens; one brother, Bennie Fitzgerald of Greenville, Ohio; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Judy Stevens of Lewisburg, Ohio, Ruth and Ernie Silverthorne and Sandy and Richard Macy, all of Brookville, Ohio, and Dorinda and Robert Stone of Ponce Inlet, Fla.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Ogle Wattenbarger officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
