Beaulah Goforth Coffman, 82, of Athens passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at NHC Healthcare of Athens.

A native of Meigs County and resident of Athens most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Sharlet Mae White Goforth, and was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John Wesley \"J.W.\" Coffman on Jan. 29, 2006; and one brother, Herschel Goforth. She was a member of North Athens Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and member of the Choir. She was a former employee of Athens Hosiery Mill.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Lewis Merriman of Athens; one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Mary Coffman of Athens; four grandchildren, Christopher Merriman and Elizabeth Merriman, both of Athens, Justin Coffman of Chattanooga, and Garrett Coffman of Washington, D.C.; one aunt, Lowtrell Thompson of Cleveland; one sister-in-law, Frances Howard of Chattanooga; one niece; and one nephew.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Kerr officiating. Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Justin Coffman, Garrett Coffman, Terry Smith, Allen Grisham, Greg Hayes, Jimmy Rogers, Ronnie Lingerfelt and Doug Burrell.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.
