Arlene Wade Hyde, 79, of Athens, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Etowah Health Care Center.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Henderson and Rhoda Hughes Wade, and was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Hyde, on Feb. 16, 1975; two sisters, Edna Wade Malone and Glenora Moses; and three brothers, Teamey Wade, James Thomas Wade and Jess Willard "Wig" Wade; and two nephews, Buddy Malone and Bobby Malone. She was a member of North Athens Baptist Church, and was a retired employee of Plastic Industries.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Charlene Wade of Athens; nieces, nephews and their spouses, Ronald "Butch" and Doris Ann Malone of Englewood, Jimmy Joe and Patty Malone of Loudon, Kim and Donna Wade of Riceville, Tammy and David Self of Nashville, and Danny and Misty Wade of Athens.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Kerr and the Rev. Don Wattenbarger officiating. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Malone, Jimmy Joe Malone, Kim Wade, Danny Wade, Ronnie Morgan and Rick Wade.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
