A native of Flint, Mich., and a former resident of Knoxville, he was a resident of McMinn County for several years. A son of the late Frank A. and Gertrude Presley Sayne, he was employed by CSX Railroad for eight years and Southern Railroad for 24 years. He was a member of Mt. Verd Baptist Church, the Charles H. McKinney Masonic Lodge No. 433 F&AM and the York Rite.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Haun Sayne of Athens; one son, Ronnie Sayne of Indiana; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and Lester Polin of Maryville; two stepdaughters and one spouse, Marie and Don Kress of Havana, Fla., and Kimberly Johnston of Athens; two stepsons, Luke Burnett and Anthony Lee Burnett, both of Athens; three grandchildren, Genna Epperson, Jamie Huskey and Ronnie Sayne Jr.; two step-grandchildren, Windi Hale and Erica Garcia; two special granddaughters, Nicole Johnston and Karen Burnett; 10 great-grandchildren; and a special great-grandson, Colton Johnston.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Verd Baptist Church with the Rev. Donnie Dalton officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville with the Charles H. McKinney Masonic Lodge No. 433 F&AM conducting services.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
