The current owner, Larry W. Hobbs, was born in Red Bank, TN & graduated from Red Bank Highschool in 1967. He was called for duty and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict; after completing his tour of duty he graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in 1971. Larry began his career as an apprentice mortician at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home in Soddy Daisy, TN. After his aprrenticeship he then went to Chattanooga Funeral Home before moving his family to Etowah, TN to work for Bordwine Funeral Home. He began working for J.R. Laycock in 1985 & purchased this home in 1986. Larry raised his family here in Athens since 1984 and continues to serve the community with the same family based values that were established by the previous owners.
