Nora Agnes Rogers Stinnett, 95, of Athens, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at her residence.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Joe Franklin and Amanda Myrtle Benton Rogers, and was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John Robert Stinnett, on Sept. 29, 1982; two brothers, John Robert "Dube" Rogers and Dailey Rogers; and two sisters, Florence McKeehan and Lillie Grubb. She was a member of East Athens Baptist Church, was retired from the Athens City School System and worked on the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. "Bobby" and Debbie Stinnett of Lenoir City; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Randy Aikman of Athens; one sister, Mary Kerley of Dunlap; three grandchildren, Mickey Stinnett, Kevin Plaster and Kelli Plaster Hester; eight great-grandchildren, Cassie, Riley, Delaney, Colby, Linkyn, Caden, Gage and Jackson; two step-grandchildren, Wesley and Riley; special friends, Brenda Tapp, Mary McKeehan and Brenda Mullins; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Chad Hester officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Idlewild Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
