Wayne W. Haun, 75, of Sweetwater, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Monroe County, and a resident of Sweetwater since 1991, he was a former resident of Cleveland and Athens. He was a retired foreman for Bowater Southern Paper Corporation, where he worked for 27 years. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, very much. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Lay Witness Team. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Marines, and "Remained a Marine for life." A son of the late Charles Ross Haun and Tilda Martin Green, he was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Frank Moses.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Fannie Stephens Haun of Sweetwater; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Carolyn Haun of Sweetwater, and Michael and Beverly Haun of Cleveland; two grandchildren, PFC Andrew Haun, U.S.M.C., and Aaron Haun; two step-granddaughters, Summer Bolix and Sarah Bolix; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Tracy Green and Mark Ray of Jefferson City, and Gleana Martin Moses of Cleveland; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Lamar and Wilma Jeane Haun, Larry and Aileen Haun and Jimmy and Jerri Haun, all of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at McMinn Memory Gardens with Carlos Hammond and Bob Lambert officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Marine Corps.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
