Minnie Beatrice Lane, age 85 of Sweetwater passed away Friday May 28, 2010 at Wood Presbyterian Home.

A native of McMinn County having lived in Homestead, FL before moving to Sweetwater in 1995, she was a daughter of the late W. B. and Annie Robinson Newman and was preceded in death by her husband, Lonas Lane on Aug. 25, 1983, a brother, Edward Newman, a sister, Agnes McKeehan, and a son-in-law, Gerald Harris.

She was a member of South Dade Baptist Church and was owner and operator of Lane's Upholstery.

Survivors Include: Two Daughters and son-in-law:Mary and Ray Simpson          Niota, Tenn.  Patricia Harris of Sweetwater, Tenn.  Brother:  Richard Newman         Niota, Tenn.  Four Sisters:  Virginia Tilley of Harriman, Tenn.  Myrtle Nix Wallace Sweetwater, Tenn.  Jewell Graves of Athens, Tenn.  Eva Strickland of Niota, Tenn.  Two Grandchildren and spouse: Randi and Dustin Allen, Caleb Harris. Great-grandchildren:  Tristan Allen and Alexandra Allen.  Several Nieces and Nephews.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Wed. June 2, 2010 at Sweetwater Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Larry Tilley Officiating.

Active Pallbearers will be members of the Christianburg Fire Dept.

The Family will receive friends from 6-8 Tues. in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home in Athens.
