Mrs. Mildred Louise Hayes, age 85, of Athens, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville, TN.

A native and resident of McMinn County most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Hubert "Hub" and Marie Lacey Stephens and was preceded in death by her husband, William George Hayes on April 29, 1993.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.  She formerly worked with her late husband in the Service Station and Restaurants they owned and operated.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, William G. "Bill" and Linda Hayes of Knoxville; two Grandchildren, Justin Cord Hayes and his wife, Tiffany Hayes and Adam Thomas Hayes; one great-grandchild, Parker-John Hayes; three sisters, Iona Wilson of Athens, Geneva Tallent of Etowah, and Joyce Irwin of Athens; one brother, Creed Stephens ofAthens; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 30, 2010 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home in Athens.

Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be family members.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 P.M. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
