Lillian Davis Dannel, 83, of Athens, died Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

A native of Roane County, and a resident of Athens for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Sarah Davis. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Virgie Mae Clark, Mary Bell Mullins, Marie Parrish and Carrie Rogers. She received her education at Roane County High School and was a longtime employee of Cooke\'s Box Company. She retired from White-Westinghouse in Athens after 21 years of service, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Charles Clay Dannel Sr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and J.R. Ballew of Athens, and Brenda and Randy Wattenbarger of Birchwood; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Clay Dannel Jr. and Mary Jane Epperson Dannel of Longwood, Fla.; seven grandchildren and their spouses, John and Karen Dannel, Jeff and Sharon Dannel and Josh Dannel, all of Longwood, Fla., Jennifer and Steve Davis of Ridgeland, S.C., Rodney and Donna Ballew of Gray, Stacy and Chris Greenwood of Chattanooga, and David and Amber Wattenbarger of Chicago, Ill.; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Dr. Jason Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, John Dannel, Jeff Dannel, Josh Dannel, Rodney Ballew, David Wattenbarger, Chris Greenwood and Steve Davis.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
