Charles Douglas Ledford Jr., 69, of Sweetwater, entered into rest on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville.
A native and lifelong resident of Monroe County, and a son of the late Charles Douglas Ledford Sr. and Willie Beatrice Moore Ledford, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Anthony Ledford; one brother, Donald Eugene Ledford; and one sister, Betty Isbill. He was a former employee of Vestal Corp. and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He will always be dearly loved and missed, such a special and caring person. Gone but not forgotten and beloved father.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, George and Anne-Marie Ledford of Cleveland, and Eddie Ledford of Sweetwater; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy "Joby" Ledford of Sweetwater, and Willis and Pam Ledford of Etowah; five grandchildren, Ryan and Doug Ledford and Dusten, Logan and Jagger Ledford; his stepmother, Betty Ledford of Sweetwater; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Betty Sloan.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Jackson officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Westview Cemetery in Sweetwater.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
