Mildred "Happy" Lingerfelt McKee, 86, of Athens, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob Arthur "Ott" and Mary Helen "Pug" Clayton Lingerfelt. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" McKee; and one brother, Oliver Eugene "Buddy" Lingerfelt. She was retired from the Department of Energy at Oak Ridge Lab, and was a member of Woodward Avenue Church of God.

Survivors include one daughter, Janie Moses of Riceville; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Nelson of Athens; one sister, Nancy Lingerfelt Latham of Athens; four grandchildren, Jaclyn Decker, Rufus Decker, Tobbie Woody and Pam Nelson; four great-grandchildren, Candice, Caden, Searra and Garrett.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Garry King officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Tony Fox, Rufus Decker, Kelly Tefeteller and Daniel Woody.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
