HELEN LOUISE MORROW SLIGER, age 76 of Riceville passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn. following a lengthy illness.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was born October 4, 1935 to the late Sterling and Minnie Womac Morrow and preceded in death by Sister: Betty Ruth Morrow, as well as her two Brothers: Jerry Morrow and William Thomas "Dub" Morrow.
She was a member of Sanford Baptist Church for 66 years. She was a graduate of Calhoun High School and Puett's Business School. Her professional career included serving as secretary of Riceville Elementary School and as bank teller at Riceville Bank, First National Bank and retiring from Branch Banking & Trust in 1997. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and was known for her beautiful flower gardens, but her most treasured time was the time spent with family.
Survivors include her Husband of 57 years Raymond Sliger of Riceville, Tenn. Daughter and Son-in-law: Sharon and Rick Brown of Riceville, Tenn. Three Grandchildren: Rev. Justin and Stephanie Brown, Grant Brown and girlfriend Kylie Lambert, and Leah Brown and fiance Tyler Sauceman, Three Great Grandchildren: Aubrey Gonzalez, Jaxson Gonzalez, and Hudson Brown all of Riceville, Tenn., Sister and Brother-in-law: Sara and Jack Melton of Cleveland, Tenn., Brother and Sister-in-law: Ross and Linda Morrow of Riceville, Tenn. Two Aunts: Margaret Morrow of Riceville, Tenn., and Edna Housley of Etowah, Tenn., several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday in Sanford Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Brown, Rev. Floyd Boggess, Rev. Don Patterson, and Rev. Steve Beavers officiating.
Interment will follow in Riceville Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state from 1-2 Wednesday at the church. Active pallbearers will be Deacons of Sanford Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 Tuesday at the church.
